It seemed that CDs and DVDs are not so long lasting anyway. According to Associated Press, CDs might not last 100 years as claimed by the manufacturers.
If branded CDs cant even last a few decades, imagine the one dollar brandless CDR you get at Low Yat/Imbi. Perhaps it is a conspiracy among the CD manufacturers?
I guess you can forget about putting data on CDs and store them in a time capsule.
one advice to store data in CD, especially our digital photos, is to reburn them every 1-2 years.. seeing that the CD-R prices are cheaper by time, it may be more worth it to re-archive them from time to time to ensure the pictures are not lost...
If indeed they are lost...

Yes.. good point!
I now have an archive of 4 CDs worth of digital photos. A few more and I can reburn them onto DVD.
Now... time to get that DVD burner...
