Indeed the Russians are notorious. 116 out of 117 people who died in the hostage crisis in Russia died of gas poisoning. The Russian army dont want to reveal the gas they used when they storm the theater. Errr... Saddam gassed his own people right? Putin gassed his own people too... and an american... Ok lets look at simple logic.
Saddam gassed the kurds because they oppose him, and they want an independent Kurdish state north of Iraq.
Putin gassed the chechens because they oppose him and they want an independent Chechen state south west of Russia.
Saddam (supposedly) have weapons of mass destruction.
Putin (most definitely, undeniably) have (a huge amount of ) weapons of mass destruction.
See the similarities? Who's the bad guy here?

While im not saying that taking civilian hostages is the right thing to do, I have analysed the situation. In fact i denounce any aggression towards civilians no matter where or who they are. However, the Chechens wont retaliate if they were not oppresed. The same goes for the Palestinians. They wont go on a suicide mission if they are not oppressed. Take a look at what the Russians did in Chechnya. You dont have to go into detail to wonder why the chechen rebels resort to such violent option.

DVDs!

I bought three DVDs last night. Brotherhood of the wolf, Ronin and Attack of the Clones from the friendly neighborhood DVD/VCD store.. Im still looking for Immortal Beloved, LOTR and Pulp Fiction special edition. I saw Jackie Brown at the store, but i was wondering if its worth to get it on DVD.

For the time being, I have to watch them on my laptop... well at least until i got myself a DVD player.
Contemplating to get a either just a Panasonic player or the Yamaha Home Entertainment System.... may be i'll do some research on that....
Any suggestions?

It's over

Oh, boy... they've finally captured the sniper and his accomplice. Somehow rather it sounds like a jedi thinggy... the master and the apprentice.
Actually, the whole mumbo jumbo leaves a lot of questions and of course people will start to question the reliability of law enforcement departments in the US.
Take a look at the clues given out by them. They say the sniper is probably a caucasian male in his 30s. And the sniper(s) are operating in a white van/truck. Apparently, the suspect caught was an African American driving a black sedan.
If the so called law enforcers cant really dig out evidence accurately in their own soil, what makes you think they could do it elsewhere (like in Iraq)?
Enough about that...

The hostage hold up in Russia ended in a controversy. Apparently most of the hostages died of gas poisoning rather than bullets. Somehow rather that sound like the Russian Modus Operandi. Remember the Kursk?

In another update, Dubya signed a new resolution against Iraq. The lawmakers who supported the resolution either have something up their sleeves and have something for themselves or just kissing ass.
Ironically, almost countering the resolution, major cities in the US and all over the world stage a protest against going to war. These include Washington, Augusta, Maine, San Francisco, Rome and Berlin to Tokyo to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Mexico City. Dubya should listen to the citizens of US and the world. Of course, that would be wishfull thinking. Knowing the chimp in Dubya, he thinks everybody else in the world have IQ below 60.
If people power is strong enough, Dubya's call to remove Saddam from the presidential seat could also be turned around and lauded against himself.

Old Friends

Last weekend, I drove down to Malacca (abt 150km south of KL) to attend a friend's (former classmate) wedding.
Met up with a couple of old friends I haven't seen in more than 10 years. Yeah, i felt good seeing them. Come to think of it, 20 years ago i was in standard one primary school. Boy, im gettin' old.

I hope i wont get any tickets from the cops. I was driving at an the average speed of 130km/h with the fastest being 170km/h, using a Singaporen car infront of me as a "human shield" against the speed trap :). The speed limit is 110.

Why would anyone spend this much money on a car? If you've got the money, who needs a reason?

CNN/Money featured 6, six figure cars on the market. The cheapest being the Jaguar XKR 100 at USD150K, and the most expensive the Ferrari Enzo at a whooping USD 652K! In Malaysia, (inclusive the taxes and other sort of crap) the price would go up to RM 7.5m.
If i have that kind of money, i'd buy a plane... and of course a BMW 7 series...

In another development, NY Times is buying the 50% stake of Herald Tribune from Washington Post Company. Why would a huge news company want to own another news company? If you subscribe to NY Times would you subscribe to Herald Tribune, knowing the news and opinions in both papers come from the same source?
Perhaps they could spread more lies and reach more people with their lies. maybe, maybe, who knows?

I got an email from one of the mailing lists i subscribe to. The author of the email seemed to be pissed with Asian Wall Street journal accusing their editors being ignorant and biased. She pointed out an article on Megawati with a Malaysian Flag next to her. The article didn't mention anything about Malaysia.

The sniper is still at large.

What ever happened to Dubya's so called Homeland Security budget? I thought the budget was like USD 38 Billion or something like that, with USD 3.5 Billion federal aid to state and local authorities.

CDs! More CDs!

Tower Records is having an anniversary sale. I just thought i'd pop in and checkout whats in store. Only a couple of CDs are worth buying. I was looking for Foo Fighter's new album, One by One. But i couldnt find it. Guess it has not been released here.
Anyway I bought Sheryl Crow's C'mon C'mon, Amir Yusoff's new album Aquarius and The soundtrack to Immortal Beloved. I have been searching for the soundtrack for ages... finally they have it.

To my surprise, Amir Yusoff's album really rock! It featured 9 tracks, all in English. I recommend it highly! I think its the best local english album i've heard. If you cant find the album at your local music store, you can buy the album online at ragtime.com.my
I think i might head to Tower Records again (while they are still having the sale). I need to get some rare stuff like Alice in Chain's Dirt and Stone Temple Pilots' Core. I had the cassettes long time ago, i don't know where they are now.

Malaysia is a terrorist state... not

Malaysia have been indicated as a terrorist state according to a UN report. The news was featured in almost all the local headlines yesterday (Oct. 18). Malaysia's ruling party Barisan Nasional was linked directly with Al-Qaida, with scores of other local organizations.
The title of the UN report was Second Report of the monitoring Group Establish Persuant to Security Council Resolution 1363 (2002) and Extended by Resolution 1390 (2002).

This bizzare "allegation" have been a blow to the govenment especially after trying very hard to convince the world, especially Uncle Sam, that Malaysia is not linked to any terrorist organization and is trying very hard to fight terrorism (or Islamic Extremism).
The effort includes the arrest of members of the so called KMM (Malaysian Militant Group), the deportation of terrorist suspect Ahmed Ibrahim Bilal to the US and the deportation of Nur Misuari to the Philippines.

As a Malaysian, i feel the report is total bullshit. Malaysia is NOT a terrorist state. Anyone who lives here or even anyone who have been here would agree with me. There are no indication what so ever that could verify Malaysia as a terrorist state. These allegations, obviously were made by someone who have never been to Malaysia and rely on information obtained from the media whores.

North Korea have admitted that they are running a nuclear weapons program even though in 1994, they have promissed under an agreement to give up its nuclear weapons program and allow inspections.

Isnt this a clear violation of the agreement? Is the US going to take action against North Korea? Are they going to send troops to North Korea?
What if North Korea sell the nukes to Iraq?

By right, the UN should issue a resolution to force North Korea to cease its nuclear program. And action should be taken in the event of any violation of this resolution.
The UN is not doing their job? or perhaps they are just closing one eye and giving leeway to North Korea. maybe?

While North Korea might have supplied Iraq with nukes, it is not practical geographically. In terms of logistics, Pakistan could be the most viable as it is closest to Iraq. Iran and Libya also were suspected to have nuclear weapons. Perhaps they could sell their nukes to Iraq. Israel, on the other hand refuses to confirm or deny that it has nukes, but it is believed to have over 100 atomic weapons.
That could wipe out the entire Middle East.

Something was wrong with blogger yesterday. I cant post my message, cant go into settings and archive. every time i clicked on the button, it says page not found. Anyway, its OK now... lets hope it wont fail this time.

OK, sniper update.
The feds are in the investigations... but i personally think they are not doing their job. Nine deaths and the sniper is still at large.
Now the army joins the hunt.
errr.. what ever happen to sattelite tracking etc. ? or is it a CIA thing? After all the CIA and the FBIare not in good terms. Maybe the CIA know something the feds dont.
And correct me if im wrong, this sniper guy is a terrorist right? To instill fear and terror on the public is his objectives. so that brands him as a terrorist right? But why are the media whores not branding him as a terrorist? Instead they brand him as a serial killer.
Whatever it is, im sure the sniper will be caught earlier if he left a note like "Fear the wrath of Allah" or something like that. And of course he will be branded a s a terrorist.

Closer to home, they are still investigating on the Bali Blast. Meanwhile, 2 bombs exploded in Zamboanga, Philippines killing 2 and injuring 23. Malaysia, on the other hand have arrested 5 members of a militant group.
Hmmm.. this region is getting hot.

On to something else, an Israeli man suffered a heart attack after making a call on a prostitute. Apparently, he made the call at a hotel while on a business trip. He had a shock and suffered a heart attcak when the prostitute arrived at his room. The prostitute was his daughter.
