Spring Cleaning

A little blog spring cleaning (If you may say so... heck its already summer!).
Managed to change the colors a few weeks back and now I'm back with two column, chucked the reading and music typelist and the tag-board to the about page.
maybe I'll tweak the color scheme... maybe black, white and blue... a little bit like BMW?
Hmmm... what else do i need to do?

Up in smoke

This post is an extended comment based on Aizuddin's post on the government's anti smoking campaign.

Personally, I support the government initiative and I think smoking in public places should be limited (not ban completely). I used to smoke cigarette but i quit. I do smoke cigars currently but thats because I enjoy the lingering taste of tobacco coupled with hints of wood and spiciness... sometimes peppery sometimes floral... hmmm...
Yes, threat is still there but i don't do it on a daily basis. Same thing goes with fat. If you eat Big Mac and Whopper every other day, you'll end up with a coronary disease by the time you're 35. If you go to McD every other week and skip the teh tarik and roti canai sessions, you might be able to catch a ride up to 70. Make sense right?

For spending RM 100 million on the campaign, the government should find ways to recover the money. How? Tax the smokers of course. Here are a few suggestions.
1) Increase the tax on cigarettes (In Australia a pack of ciggies cost AUD 8 - thats about RM24!)
2) Cigarette vendors should have license to sell cigarettes.
3) Restaurant should have smoking and non smoking sections. Of course those who choose to dine at the smoking section would have to pay smoking fees.
4) Legalize marijuana... and put a tax on it as well! (if you can make money out of it, why the hell not?)
5) Higher insurance premium for smokers. (insurance policies have all sort of fine print anyway)
6) Any other suggestions are welcomed.

With the extra income the government could reap from the smokers (and stoners too), perhaps they could lower the import tax and excise duties on cars?

Finally, I do symphatize with smokers who seemed to be the sitting duck against the onslaught of the anti smokers. What if we have anti fat campaign, would fat people be ostracized like the smokers too? I wonder....

Photo Fugue

That's right kids! I have created a sister site for Digital Fugue! I would like to announce my spanking new photoblog called Photo Fugue - Random Shots. It is still somewhat under construction, so any suggestions and comments are highly appreciated.

All photo albums in Digital Fugue have been relocated to Photo Fugue.

Enjoy!

Joe Blogs

Passage: Johan Ismail of Joe Blogs
(At the time of this post, the link has been taken off as a gesture of respect especially to Joe's family)

Perhaps the most shocking news in Malaysia's blogscene, his passage will indeed be a great loss to the blog community not only in Malaysia but to the world as well. We will definitely miss his daily dose. My deepest condolences to Joe's Family.

Minor revamp

Call it revamp... or restructure or whatever, Im doing some changes to the blog interface.
The main content is in the middle. To the right is all info pertaining to Digital Fugue; about me, email, photo albums, personal links, archives etc. I have included another typelist called et cetera in a bid to unclutter the left panel. Et cetera contains miscellaneous stuff about the site; you know, search bar, site stats stuff like that. I dont know if i should place it as it is or below the archive. What do you think?

The left panel is mostly external links; blogroll, webrings, interactivity tools... i dont know if i should keep the tagboard or should i ditch it. The page seem to take time to load as it points to tagboard. Plus, web vandals tend to smear graffity on it. Spam have also been detected in comments. (sigh!)

Other than that, I have also included Typepeople; basically its a blogroll of interesting people using typepad that i've come across.

Maybe i should change the banner as well....? or maybe the color scheme...? hmmm...
